About

I help businesses reduce manual work, get faster access to reliable information, and improve day-to-day operations through Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, NAV and the Power Platform.

I am Walter Orando, a Business Central developer, technical manager and ERP Solution architect based in Nairobi, Kenya. Over the past 9+ years, I have delivered more than 15 enterprise ERP implementations and led teams of up to 12 professionals. My work connects business requirements with practical software solutions, from ERP implementations and integrations to targeted Business Central extensions.

Results that matter to the business

  • Less manual work: Reduced manual workflows by 75% through a Business Central implementation for more than 300 users.
  • Faster decisions: Reduced reporting turnaround from two days to instant access through BI architecture and ETL pipelines processing more than two million records daily.
  • More reliable delivery: Reduced code defects by 40% and increased deployment success rates to 99.2% by standardising development practices.
  • Business continuity during upgrades: Completed a migration from NAV 2015 to Business Central 24 without data loss.
  • Clearer revenue visibility: Improved revenue visibility by 60% through a custom ROI tracker.

What I work on

As an Application Developer and Solution Architect, I combine hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring and project delivery. My experience spans AL and C/AL development, API integrations, CI/CD pipelines, SQL Server, business intelligence and LS Retail across multi-branch operations.

Alongside larger implementations, I develop in-house AppSource extensions that address specific operational needs. These include reporting, banking integrations, email management, container tracking and inventory management.

How I approach a project

I start with the business problem: where work slows down, where information is missing, and what a better result would look like. I then translate those needs into clear technical requirements and practical solutions whose value can be assessed through the results they deliver.

Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer Associate.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, University of Nairobi.

Why I write

On this blog, I share practical notes on Business Central development, integrations, reporting and the lessons that come from delivering ERP solutions. My aim is to make useful technical knowledge easier to find and apply.
