Cyclomatic complexity.
Your code might be too complex and it’s slowing you down.
Lets talk about cyclomatic complexity. Sounds fancy, but it’s really just how many decision points are in your functions.
The problem
Time lost is the cost of complexity as bugs fixes takes longer, adding features delays and new team member gets lost for days trying to figure it out.
CC Calculation simplified:
Each IF statement = +1
Each entire CASE statement = +1
REPEAT-UNTIL loops = +1
WHILE loops = +1

The fix
Evaluate the endless loops in the code. The golden rule is to keep it under 25. If your function has more than 25 decision points, it’s time to refactor. Split it. Simplify it. Make it readable for your future self and your team.

* Refactor tips
✅ One function = one job
✅ Use guard clauses to exit early
✅ Extract validation into separate functions
When your code has too many decision points, it’s not just harder to read, it becomes costly to maintain, tricky to test, and risky to change.
