Stop the Wait: Instant Previews with the “Report-to-BLOB” Pattern.

Are you tired of users complaining that “the Invoice takes time to open” every single time they click preview? In a high-volume environment, re-rendering the same complex document multiple times a day is a waste of CPU and SQL resources.

❌ The Problem
Standard report rendering is synchronous and heavy. If a report has complex SIFT calculations or many joins, regenerating the PDF for every “look” is a performance tax your system shouldn’t have to pay.

🛠️ The Fix
Instead of running the report logic repeatedly, generate the PDF once (on posting or first request) and store it in a BLOB field. The next time the user wants it, you stream it directly to their screen. It’s the difference between a 5-second render and a 50-millisecond download.

Why this is important:
✅ UX Snappiness: The document “pops” open instantly because the “heavy lifting” is already done.
✅ Audit Accuracy: You ensure the user sees the exact layout and data that existed at the time of the transaction, even if the report layout is updated later.
✅ Reduced SQL Load: You bypass the OnAfterGetRecord loops and SIFT lookups entirely on subsequent views.

✴️ Pro-Tip:
Don’t bloat your main tables, Instead of a standard Blob field, use Tenant Media or an external service like Azure Blob Storage for the storage part. This keeps your base table performance high and your database backups lean.

💡The Bottom Line:
If a document is static, don’t treat it like dynamic data. Cache the render, save the CPU.
